Grenfell tower reflection one year on

As I reflect on the tragedy of the Grenfell Tower fire a year on, I see two very different images -

1. The power structure of local government etc, very ineffective, no clear emergency planning protocol, a culture of blaming anyone else but themselves and fighting over who should have done x and y instead of rolling their sleeves up and just meeting people at the point of their need at that moment.

2. The local Community (grassroots level) despite being in shock, in terror lots of unknown questions, a look to local government for support and guidance and getting none, the local community mobilised into action, places of faith opened their doors to the displaced, the injured and anxious, the faith community became the hub of hope - it started to sow seeds of resurrection hope within the battered burnout community and said 'we are Grenfell, we stand together' I see a great cohesion of a community where everyone works for the greater good of others in the community, where freindships can be formed and understanding and empathy can be nurthered and weaved throught the community - Grenfell can now start to grow and flourish again, it, I belive gives a new blueprint/foundation to what and how a community should be, a place where all are welcome and feel safe, where oversight is within the community where the church can serve as a place of hope where truth, love and understanding is at its heart.
