Picture a big, tall, beautiful building under construction. Now picture the scaffolding that surrounded the building while it was under construction … supporting it and framing it as it rose into the sky until it was ready to stand on its own.
Think of the building as the Kingdom of God we’ve been called to build here on earth as it is in heaven … the kingdom we pray about every time we pray the Lord’s Prayer. know think of the scaffolding surrounding the building as the church. So I'd like to suggest that the point of the church is not the church in the same way the point of the scaffolding is not the scaffolding, the point of the church is to build the kingdom, right here! When the church gets it wrong it's spending too much time polishing, preserving, and fussing with the scaffolding that it forgets to build the kingdom. I have tried above to envisage this idea above but would like to re-create this idea projected onto a church wall, to get the body of Christ to see that the building they call church isn't the place they come together in as a secret club for those saved, the building is to help equip them to build the kingdom. I wonder if the church building is seen as a create hub then what might workship look like, even small groups? Your Kingdom Come, Your Will be Done
